Hello and Welcome!
My name is Evelyn Wood, owner and lead planner of Ouray Mountain Events, and I am so incredibly glad you’re here. If you’ve found your way to this blog, it means you’re likely planning something special—and you’ve come to the right place. I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about who we are and what we do.
After graduating summa cum laude from Oregon State University with a degree in business design and innovation management, I spent three years crafting memorable events in both the corporate world and thrilling special occasion settings. But through every event I planned, my heart was always back home in the San Juan Mountains.I’ve always dreamed of opening an event coordination and design company in my hometown of Ouray. As Dolly Parton once said:

Well, I tried! And thanks to the incredible support of this community, Ouray Mountain Events is not just a dream anymore—it’s a thriving reality.

Strategic Design: My background in Innovation Management means I don't just pick pretty flowers. I design the flow, the logistics, and the "vibe" of your event with professional precision.

There is a reason they call this the "Switzerland of America." Hosting an event against the backdrop of the San Juan's is a spiritual experience, but it also comes with unique mountain logistics (weather, altitude, and terrain!). As a local, I navigate these challenges daily, ensuring your event is seamless from the first invitation to the final toast!
